But in the meantime, we have the beginnings of a second book in our hands. Hannah was just tinkling away at the keys on her keyboard and this is what she produced. I think it's great!
Chapter 1
(Hannah Clayton)
“Chelsea! Roxy! You’re finally here!” Annie shouted running out the door. Charlotte and Jade soon appeared as well and followed Annie towards the car that was coming to a halt outside the doors of Fernwood High. It was the first day back from an exciting, jam-packed holiday and everyone was ready for the new term. “You would have never thought that you girls had been yapping away on the phone for ages last night!” Mr Frank laughed. The twins grinned at their father and jumped out the car to hug their friends.
The girls all started unpacking the car that was full of bags and Roxanne’s sporting equipment. “It’s amazing that the boot was able to close with all of this stuff inside,” Mrs Frank said, shaking her head in amazement. The twins giggled and winked at their friends. They couldn’t wait to get inside, unpack and catch up on all the news, but they were also very sad that their parents were leaving. “We will write to you as soon as we can,” Chelsea said with tears in her eyes. The twins hugged their parents and then watched the car drive away. They walked slowly back to the common room to put their bags down.
“I wonder where Calipso is?” said Annie a while later. “It’s getting late.”
“We better start unpacking so long,” Charlotte said. So, with many bags in their hands, the girls trudged down to their room. They were so excited that they would once again be in the magical dorm under the stairs. They chattered away and Chelsea told them all the news about her now ‘official’ boyfriend, Kyle. She had had a crush on him for ages and finally she had got to go out with him. Annie had also developed a crush on one of Kyle’s new friends. His name was Greg and whenever she saw him she blushed and felt weak at the knees!
Chelsea was right in the middle of telling Annie all the news about Greg when there was a knock on the doorframe.
“It’s me, Josephine. I have some sad news girls. Can I come in?”
The girls all wondered what Josephine was talking about and Jade went to the doorway to pull the heavy green curtains aside.
“What’s wrong?” Charlotte asked with a worried look on her face.
“Um, unfortunately, girls, Calipso is very sick and won’t be coming to school yet. I am very sorry. I know how close you girls are.”
“Is she very ill?” Annie whispered. Josephine nodded her head and sighed.
“I’m afraid so,” she answered. A cloud suddenly formed over their heads and dampened their mood. What had begun as a happy, exciting first day back was now a terribly sad one.
Josephine finished speaking to them and turned to leave. The girls all flopped onto their beds in silence. Roxanne was the first to speak.
“Well, I guess we better finish unpacking before dinner,” she sighed. The dinner bell rang just as the girls finished. They all shuffled out of Oak House and up to the dining room.
“What’s wrong with you girls?” Olivia, one of their classmates, asked grinning.
“Calipso is very sick and won’t be at school for a while,” Charlotte answered miserably.
“Oh no! I hope she gets better soon,” she replied. The girls nodded and went to sit down. First-day-back dinners were usually one of the girls’ favourite meals because it was one of the best meals they had at Fernwood, even though the food was always delicious. But none of them could get more than a few mouthfuls down. Eventually everyone was dismissed from dinner and the girls went back to their dorm.
“I hope Calipso will get better soon,” said Jade quietly.
“I do too.” Roxanne added. The girls soon started talking about their holiday again and Chelsea went back to filling Annie in about Greg.
“Do you think we will have any dreams tonight?” Annie wondered out loud.
“I hope so,” said Chelsea, remembering all the dreams they had had during the first term, some good and some bad. The girls carried on chattering for a while but soon, one by one, they all drifted off into a deep sleep.....
Is there a chapter 2???
ReplyDeleteHi girls - greetings from England? Do any of you still read this blog? Its the first time I have visited it in a while. I just finished reading our book for about the hundredth time and really think there should be a sequel. Who's going to write chapter 2?
